Please read the following message from our Region Safety Director, Clint Kemp:
| A BRIEF NOTE ABOUT SAFETY |
|---|
One of the guiding principles of AYSO is a safe environment. The responsibility for creating that environment belongs to everyone - players, parents, and volunteers. Some things that all of us can do are: check the field for hazards, check the goals for secure attachment, and check the nets for proper installation. Parents please help the coaches out by performing these field checks while the coach focuses on getting your children ready to play or practice. If you find any serious safety concerns you can report them to the regional commissioner, your age group coordinator, or the safety director and we will work with the field owners to get them corrected. We can also ensure that tempers stay under control and everyone behaves appropriately. In the case of injuries, please help the coach fill out an accident report and send it to the safety director. If the injured player needs medical attention parents and coaches need to ensure that the participation release form is completed and turned into the Safety Director before the player goes back on the field. These forms are available on the region website www.laytonayso.com. The Soccer Accident Insurance (SAI) is a secondary insurance that covers players and registered volunteers at practices and games. If a claim needs to be filed it must be done within 90 days of the injury. The purpose of the accident report is to get the details written down at the time of the injury so they can be easily transferred to the insurance form if a claim is filed. If a claim needs to be filed please contact the safety director for the appropriate form.
